STILE Downtown Los Angeles Reopens Following Renovation

STILE Downtown Los Angeles (“STILE”), operated by AJU Continuum, has reopened in June 2026 following an approximately five-month renovation.
Located in the heart of Downtown Los Angeles, STILE is a 13-story lifestyle hotel with 182 guestrooms. AJU Continuum acquired the property in 2019 and rebranded it under its own hotel brand in 2024. Built around the core philosophy of “Stay By Your Own Rules,” the hotel primarily targets guests with independent lifestyles, including creative professionals, digital nomads, and Millennial and Gen Z travelers.
 
The renovation goes beyond a simple facility upgrade, transforming of STILE into an integrated hospitality destination. The building, a designated Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument, retains its original 1920s Spanish Gothic architecture - now paired with an industrial-modern design concept led by the Design, Bitches team, creating a space where heritage and contemporary sensibilities coexist.
 
The redesigned property also brings together a range of interconnected experiences, including SparkHouse, a private creative hub; Somewhere Special, a rooftop pool and bar; and The Goodie Shop, a lifestyle retail space. Together, these elements are designed so that the stay itself becomes the experience. Through collaborations with Los Angeles-based brands and artists, as well as nearby cultural venues including The United Theater on Broadway, the hotel functions as a curated content platform.

AJU Honored for Advancing Gender Equality in the Workplace

AJU (CEO Lee Hwang-cheol) received a commendation from the Minister of Employment and Labor after being named an outstanding company for gender equality in employment at the 2026 Equal Employment Opportunity Emphasis Period Awards Ceremony. Hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the ceremony took place on June 28 at the War Memorial of Korea in Yongsan.
 
The award recognized AJU's efforts to build an inclusive and equitable workplace across three key areas: equal opportunity and career development, maternity protection, and work-life balance. Women now make up 43.1% of the company's workforce as of 2025, a figure that has risen steadily over the past three years. With all employees hired on a full-time basis, and women accounted for 44% of new hires — demonstrating the company’s commitment to stable, and inclusive employment practices.
 
AJU's support system spans every stage of employees' lives, from income support during parental leave to childcare and education assistance, flexible working arrangements, and remote work options for pregnant employees. Backed by a fair promotion and compensation system, the company has also seen steady growth in female leadership, with women now holding more than 28% of team leader positions.

AJU Corporation secures a patent for a concrete composition designed for placement during rainfall

AJU Corporation announced that it has secured a patent for a concrete composition that maintains strength during rainfall, developed through collaborative research with Doosan E&C. The concrete is designed to be placed without compromising quality even under rainfall of up to 6 mm per hour.
 
Recently, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport tightened regulations on concrete work during rain. Concrete work is now fully prohibited when hourly rainfall exceeds 3 mm and allowed only with the approval of the responsible engineer when rainfall is 3 mm or less. In practice, however, forecast inaccuracies and conservative decision-making have often resulted in placement restrictions, disrupting project schedules and causing confusion due to repeated ready-mix concrete orders and cancellations.
 
The newly developed technology incorporates a special chemical admixture to enhance resistance to material segregation, suppress rainwater contamination, and ensure both fluidity and workability. Field applicability was verified through evaluations by an accredited testing institution and full-scale mock-up tests using actual structural members. The results confirmed that the concrete can maintain stable strength even under rainfall of up to 6 mm per hour.
 
AJU Corporation official said, “This patent is particularly meaningful in that it represents the development of a next-generation concrete composition that reflects on-site requirements through close collaboration between a construction company and a ready-mix concrete manufacturer.” He added, “Based on this proven technology, we hope to further strengthen the technical capabilities of both companies and contribute to the advancement of Korea’s construction industry.”

Gwangseon Yang of AJU IB Investment Receives Prime Minister’s Commendation at the 2025 Venture Start

Gwangseon Yang, Senior Executive in the Global Investment Division at AJU IB Investment, has received a Prime Minister’s Commendation at the 2025 Venture Startup Promotion Merit Award, in recognition of his contributions to Korea’s venture and startup investment ecosystem.
 
Organized by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, the award honors companies and individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement of the venture and startup ecosystem and the strengthening of national industrial competitiveness. Yang was recognized for his 25-year career in venture investment, spanning venture fund formation, startup sourcing, capital deployment, and portfolio value creation.
 
Yang joined AJU IB Investment in 2000 and currently serves as lead fund manager for the firm's flagship VC funds: the AJU Good Venture Fund series (1.0, 2.0, and 3.0).
 
Upon receiving the honor, Yang said it reflects not only his own efforts but also the dedication of entrepreneurs and colleagues who have continued to believe in innovation despite uncertainty. He added that he hopes to help create a virtuous cycle whereby the results of innovation are returned to the broader ecosystem.

BIO Digest, a specialized digital magazine on biotechnology and healthcare published by AJU IB Investment, received the Grand Prize in the Online Content category at the '2025 Korea Communication Awards'. The ceremony was held on December 3 at the International Conference Hall of the Korea Press Center in Seoul.
 
Organized by the Korea Business Communicators Association (KBCA) and supported by organizations including the Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism and the Ministry of Employment and Labor, the awards recognize outstanding achievements in media, public relations, and corporate communications.
